경기도 4개 시·군, 직매립 금지 시행에도 민간 소각장 미확보
1일부터 수도권매립지 생활폐기물 직매립 금지가 본격 시행됐지만 경기도내 일부 시·군은 민간 소각장을 확보하지 못했다.
경기도내 31개 시·군 중 안산·부천·가평·양평 4곳이 민간 소각장을 확보하지 못한 것으로 확인됐다. 양평군은 발생 폐기물의 70%만 이천 광역 소각장에서 처리하기로 했고 나머지 30%는 미정이다.
서울과 인천도 도내 민간 소각장과 계약을 체결하거나 추진 중이어서 미확보 시·군의 운신 폭이 좁아지고 있다. 홍수열 자연순환사회경제연구소 소장은 "경기도는 공공 소각장을 확충할 공간적 여력이 있는 만큼 시·군, 주민과 조속한 사회적 협의에 나서야 한다"고 제언했다.

Four Gyeonggi Cities and Counties Fail to Secure Private Incinerators Despite Direct Landfill Ban
The ban on direct landfill of household waste at the metropolitan landfill took effect on January 1, but some cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province have not secured private incinerators.
It was confirmed that 4 of 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province, including Ansan, Bucheon, Gapyeong, and Yangpyeong, have not secured private incinerators. Yangpyeong County has arranged to process only 70% of its waste at Icheon metropolitan incinerator, with the remaining 30% undetermined.
As Seoul and Incheon are also signing or pursuing contracts with private incinerators in the province, options for cities and counties without secured facilities are narrowing. Hong Soo-yeol, director of the Resource Circulation Society Economy Research Institute, advised, "Gyeonggi Province has spatial capacity to expand public incinerators, so it should promptly engage in social consultation with cities, counties, and residents."
