인천 부평구 갈산동 갈산역 공영주차장의 주차난이 심각해져 대책을 요구하는 목소리가 커지고 있다. 인근 웨딩홀 하객 차량으로 공영주차장이 포화 상태를 이루는 가운데 인근에 조성 중인 호텔이 이달 준공을 앞두고 있어 주차난 가중 우려가 나온다.

1999년 조성된 갈산역 공영주차장은 최근 확충된 8면을 포함해 총 144면에 그친다. 정예지(더불어민주당·비례) 부평구의원은 지난달 21일 구의회 행정사무감사에서 "호텔 개장 이후 공영주차장이 지금보다 혼잡해질 것은 뻔하다"며 "주민들이 원활히 공영주차장을 이용할 수 있도록 업체들과의 협의가 필요하다"고 촉구했다.

부평구는 지난달 28일 새로운 출구 조성을 마쳤으며 추후 개방해 혼잡도를 해소할 방침이다. 부평구시설관리공단 관계자는 "호텔의 경우 구체적인 개장 일정이 파악되는 대로 구청과 협력해 대응책을 마련할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
