◆ NASA 케네디우주센터서 현지 교육 프로그램 운영

인천시교육청은 11일(현지시간) 미국 NASA 케네디우주센터(KSC)를 방문해 '인천세계로배움학교 항공우주아카데미' 현지 교육 프로그램을 성공적으로 운영했다. '읽걷쓰 기반 올바로 결대로 세계로 교육'의 일환으로 운영된 이번 프로그램은 지도교사와 학생 17명이 참여했다. 학생들이 세계 수준의 우주과학 현장을 직접 경험하며 '읽고-걷고-쓰는' 자기주도형 성장 과정을 실현하는 특별한 계기가 됐다.

◆ 새턴 V 로켓 관람·우주비행사 대화 등 체험

참가 학생들은 NASA의 우주 발사기지를 탐방하고 아폴로 계획과 우주왕복선 시대의 역사, 현재 진행 중인 유인 우주 탐사 프로그램에 관한 심화형 전시와 실습 중심의 교육 활동을 체험했다. 새턴 V 로켓 전시 관람, 우주왕복선 아틀란티스 내부 체험, 로켓 발사 시뮬레이션, 우주비행사와의 직접 대화는 학생들에게 우주과학에 대한 통찰과 진로에 대한 동기를 부여했다. 프로그램에 참여한 한 학생은 "'나를 읽고, 우주를 꿈꾸며, 미래를 쓰다'라는 교육 목표 아래 평생 잊지 못할 경험을 했다"며 "미래 우주 연구의 핵심이 협력과 소통임을 깨달았고 이번 경험을 토대로 더 넓은 세계 무대에서 함께 배우고 성장하는 사람이 되고 싶다"고 소감을 전했다.

◆ "글로벌 인재로 성장하길 기대"

인천시교육청은 이번 NASA 체험이 학생 개개인의 잠재력을 존중하는 '인천세계로배움학교'의 취지를 살리는 동시에 자기주도적 성장을 지향하는 '읽걷쓰 AI 사업'이 글로벌 현장으로 확산되는 중요한 사례가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다. 인천시교육청 관계자는 "이제 우주는 더 이상 상상의 공간이 아니라 과학적 도전과 인류의 미래를 담보하는 실천의 영역"이라며 "항공우주 해외 체험을 통해 학생들이 AI 시대 자기 주도성과 협업 역량을 키우고 미래 사회에서 창의적으로 문제를 해결할 수 있는 글로벌 인재로 성장하길 기대한다"고 말했다.

17 students participate, experience rocket launch simulation and conversation with astronauts

◆ On-site education program at NASA Kennedy Space Center

Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education visited NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in the United States on January 11 (local time) and successfully operated the 'Incheon Global Learning School Aerospace Academy' on-site education program. The program, operated as part of 'Read-Walk-Write Based Olbaro Gyeoldaero Global Education,' was attended by instructors and 17 students. It became a special opportunity for students to directly experience world-class space science sites and realize self-directed growth through 'reading-walking-writing.'

◆ Experienced Saturn V rocket viewing and astronaut conversations

Participating students toured NASA's space launch facilities and experienced in-depth exhibitions and hands-on educational activities about the Apollo program, Space Shuttle era history, and ongoing manned space exploration programs. Saturn V rocket exhibition viewing, Space Shuttle Atlantis interior experience, rocket launch simulation, and direct conversations with astronauts provided students with insights into space science and motivation for their careers. One participating student shared "Under the educational goal of 'reading myself, dreaming of space, and writing the future,' I had an unforgettable experience. I realized that the core of future space research is cooperation and communication, and based on this experience, I want to become someone who learns and grows together on a wider world stage."

◆ "Expect students to grow as global talent"

Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education expects this NASA experience to uphold the purpose of 'Incheon Global Learning School,' which respects each student's potential, while becoming an important case of the 'Read-Walk-Write AI Project' pursuing self-directed growth expanding to global sites. An Incheon Office of Education official stated "Space is no longer an imaginary realm but a practical domain that guarantees scientific challenges and humanity's future. We expect students to develop self-directedness and collaboration capabilities for the AI era through overseas aerospace experiences and grow as global talent capable of creatively solving problems in future society."
