더불어민주당 윤리심판원이 12일 김병기 전 원내대표에 대해 제명 처분을 의결했다. 한동수 윤리심판원장은 "징계시효 완성 여부와 사안 중대성 등을 종합적으로 고려해 제명 처분을 의결했다"고 밝혔다.

징계 사유로는 대한항공 호텔 숙박권 수수 의혹, 쿠팡 고가 식사 의혹, 공천 헌금 의혹 등이 포함됐다. 김 전 원내대표는 13일 페이스북을 통해 "즉시 재심을 청구하겠다"며 "의혹이 사실이 될 수는 없다"고 반발했다. 민주당 지도부는 14일 최고위원회의, 15일 의원총회를 열어 제명 절차를 밟을 계획이다.

Democratic Party Ethics Committee Votes to Expel Former Floor Leader Kim Byung-ki

The Democratic Party of Korea's Ethics Tribunal voted to expel former floor leader Kim Byung-ki on January 12. Ethics Tribunal Chairman Han Dong-su stated the decision was made after comprehensively considering the statute of limitations and gravity of the matter. Disciplinary grounds include allegations of receiving Korean Air hotel vouchers, expensive meals from Coupang, and nomination donations. Kim wrote on Facebook on January 13, "I will immediately file for appeal. Allegations cannot become facts." Party leadership plans to hold a Supreme Council meeting on January 14 and a general assembly on January 15 to proceed with expulsion procedures.
