◆ 경기도의회 신규투자 동의안 의결
경기도의회는 26일 '경기주택도시공사 광교테크노밸리 바이오 부지 개발사업 신규투자사업 추진동의안'을 의결했다. 경기도는 29일 이 소식을 공식 발표했다. 이 사업은 6월 경기주택도시공사(GH)에 부지를 현물 출자하기로 한 동의안의 후속 조치다.
◆ 수원 영통구에 연면적 14만 5천㎡ 규모 단지 조성
사업 대상 부지는 수원시 영통구 이의동 919 일원 약 2만 5천㎡ 규모다. 이곳은 장기간 미활용된 도유재산인 옛 바이오 장기 연구센터 예정지다. 준주거지역인 부지에 지하 4층·지상 16층, 연면적 약 14만 5천㎡ 규모의 업무·주거·근린생활시설 복합단지가 들어선다. 광교테크노밸리 및 인근 바이오·헬스기업, 연구기관 종사자와 청년 창업가에게 안정적인 주거 공간을 제공하고 인재 유치 및 정주여건 개선을 목표로 한다.
◆ 글로벌 바이오 허브 위상 강화...스타트업 육성 가속
광교 일대는 200여 개 바이오 관련 기업과 경기도경제과학진흥원, 경기바이오센터, 차세대융합기술연구원, 한국나노기술원, 아주대학교 의료원이 밀집한 경기도의 바이오산업 핵심 거점이다. 경기도는 업무·연구·주거·생활이 한 공간에서 이어지는 바이오 특화 복합단지를 조성하고, 인근 기관과 연계한 스타트업 육성 및 기술사업화 지원을 강화해 '광교 글로벌 바이오 허브' 위상을 높일 계획이다. 경기도 관계자는 "6월 GH 현물출자 동의 이후 이번 신규투자 동의로 광교 바이오 부지 개발이 본격적인 실행 단계에 들어섰다"며 "바이오 생태계 조성과 스타트업 육성, 주거 공급을 함께 추진해 광교 테크노밸리를 경기도 글로벌 바이오 허브의 핵심 거점으로 만들겠다"고 말했다.

◆ Gyeonggi Provincial Council Passes New Investment Resolution
The Gyeonggi Provincial Council approved the 'New Investment Project Implementation Resolution for Gwangyeok Techno Valley Bio District Development by Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation' on December 26. Gyeonggi Province announced the decision on December 29. This project is a follow-up measure to the resolution passed in June to contribute the site to the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) as an in-kind investment.
◆ Construction of Large-Scale Complex in Suwon's Yeongdeungpo District
The project site covers approximately 25,000 square meters located at 919 Euui-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City. The site is a long-vacant provincial property designated as the former Bio Long-term Research Center. On this semi-residential area, a multi-purpose complex with basement 4 levels and 16 above-ground floors, totaling approximately 145,000 square meters of office, residential, and neighborhood commercial facilities will be constructed. The project aims to provide stable residential space for workers in Gwangyeok Techno Valley and nearby bio and health companies, research institutions, and young entrepreneurs, while attracting talent and improving residential conditions.
◆ Strengthening Status as Global Bio Hub…Accelerating Startup Nurturing
The Gwangyeok area is a core hub for Gyeonggi Province's bio-industry, with approximately 200 bio-related companies and institutions including the Gyeonggi Institute of Economic and Scientific Advancement, Gyeonggi Bio Center, Next Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute, Korea Nano Technology Institute, and Ajou University Medical Center. Gyeonggi Province plans to create a bio-specialized complex where business, research, residential, and lifestyle functions are integrated in one space, and will enhance support for startup incubation and technology commercialization through partnerships with nearby institutions to elevate the status of 'Gwangyeok Global Bio Hub.' A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "Following the June approval of GH in-kind investment, this new investment approval has brought the Gwangyeok bio district development into the full execution phase. We will simultaneously promote bio ecosystem development, startup nurturing, and residential supply to establish Gwangyeok Techno Valley as a core hub of Gyeonggi Province's Global Bio Hub."
