◆ 인천 서구, 전국 자치구 인구수 1위 기록

2025년 인천 서구는 기초지자체 중 최대 인구 도시가 됐다. 11월 말 기준 인구 65만2736명을 돌파했다. 이는 젊은 인구 증가와 도시 매력 상승을 보여주는 본격적인 지표다.

◆ 광역교통 대폭 강화! 교통 중심지로 도약

인천 서구는 인천1호선 검단 연장 개통을 시작으로 서울7호선 청라 연장을 본격 추진하고 있다. 서부권 광역급행철도 예비타당성조사를 통과했다. 인천 서구는 출퇴근 혁신과 교통중심 도시로의 위상 강화를 위해 노력하고 있다.

◆ 구민 생활 편의 UP! 행정·생활 인프라 확충

인천 서구는 석남1동 행정복지센터와 루원복합청사를 건립해 행정 편의를 제공한다. 청라 스타필드·의료복합타운·하나금융타운 등 민간 시설 유치를 지원했다. 우수저류시설 등 재해예방시설을 설치해 침수피해를 방지하는 등 행정·생활 안전 인프라를 구축하고 있다.

◆ 제3연륙교 '청라하늘대교' 개통 임박

청라하늘대교는 영종과 청라를 연결하는 제3연륙교다. 세계 최대 높이 해상교량 전망대를 갖춘 글로벌 랜드마크로 2026년 1월 개통을 앞두고 있다.

◆ 인천 서구→'서해구'로 새출발

인천 서구는 지역 상징성과 미래 비전이 담긴 새 이름으로 구 명칭 변경을 추진 중이다. 명칭 변경 절차 완료 후 새로운 명칭을 통해 도시 이미지를 재구축하고 성장동력을 확보할 예정이다.

인천 서구는 급증하는 노년층을 위한 맞춤형 복지에 속도를 높이고 있다. 장수누리터를 개소했고 서구치매안심누리 착공과 당하노인복지관 개관을 완료했다.

◆ 고립 청년 지원 프로젝트 '브릿지 어게인'

인천 서구는 심리·사회적 어려움을 겪는 청년을 지원하고 청년의 회복·관계·참여를 돕기 위해 브릿지 어게인 행복캠프와 나와 우리동네 퀘스트 투어 프로그램을 운영했다.

◆ 균형발전 가속! 도시개발·재생사업 대규모 확대

인천 서구는 청라국제도시·검단신도시·루원시티·가정2지구·검암역세권 등 도시개발사업을 추진하고 있다. 행복마을 가꿈사업, 가좌동 회복의 숲 도시재생사업, 인천대로 일반화 사업 주변 재생사업 등 원도심 중심 도시재생사업을 통해 동·서부 균형 성장 기반을 강화하고 있다.

한편 인천 서구는 이번 10대 이슈 선정을 통해 지난 1년을 돌아보고 앞으로 구민 입장에서 도움이 되는 행정을 제공하기 위해 최선의 노력을 다할 예정이다.

It is promoting construction of the Geomdan New City Living SOC Complex Building and Majeon-dong Administrative Welfare Center new building. Preliminary procedures for administrative district and organizational restructuring have begun, and temporary buildings have been secured.

◆ Third Mainland Connection Bridge 'Cheongna Sky Bridge' Opening Imminent

The Cheongna Sky Bridge is the third mainland connection bridge connecting Yeongjong and Cheongna. It is a global landmark featuring the world's highest maritime bridge observatory and is scheduled to open in January 2026.

The foundation for balanced east-west growth is being strengthened through old downtown-centered urban regeneration projects such as the Happy Village Improvement Project, Gajwa-dong Forest of Recovery Urban Regeneration Project, and regeneration projects around the Incheon-daero generalization project.

Meanwhile, Incheon Seo-gu plans to look back on the past year through this selection of top 10 issues and make every effort to provide administration that helps residents.
