인천시가 매년 급증하는 시내버스 준공영제 예산 부담을 해소하기 위해 정부에 국비 지원을 요청할 계획이다.
시 교통국은 16일 브리핑을 열어 준공영제 지속가능성 강화와 안정적 재정 구조 마련을 위한 혁신 방안을 발표했다. 준공영제 재정 지원금은 2021년 2181억 원에서 2023년 2816억 원으로 급증했으며, 2026년에는 약 2900억 원에 이를 것으로 예상된다.
재정 부담 증가는 운송 원가 이하의 요금과 지속적인 인건비 상승의 영향을 받는다. 특히 지난해 12월 대법원 판례에 따른 통상임금 적용으로 지원금의 약 60%를 차지하는 인건비가 늘면서 부담이 커졌다.
시 관계자는 "국비 지원은 재정 부담 완화를 위한 궁극적인 목표"라며 "전국 공통 과제인 만큼 다른 지자체와 공동 대응해 정부에 건의할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
