경기도는 13일 캠프그리브스에서 크리스마스 시즌 전시와 이벤트를 본격 추진한다 밝혔다. 미군 유품을 재조합한 업사이클링 예술작품 전시와 계절 이벤트 운영으로 관람객 경험 다층화 전략이다. 경기도는 올해 상반기 갤러리그리브스·스튜디오BEQ·탄약고1관 전시 콘텐츠 확충에 이어 하반기 신규 전시공간 리뉴얼을 단계적으로 진행 중이다.
◆ 탄약고2관 "주름진 서식지"…미군 막사·생존담요로 재탄생
연진영 작가 신작 '주름진 서식지(Folded Habitat)'는 탄약고2관에서 선보인다. 미군 막사·텐트·생존담요 등 군용 물품을 해체·재조합한 설치미술 작품이다. 실제 미군이 사용한 막사 위에 수많은 주름을 잡은 생존담요를 덮은 구조다. 작품은 생존담요 표면의 주름을 두려움·생존의 흔적으로 표현하면서 보호·온기·희망 감정을 담아냈다. 플라스틱 재생 실과 한지사 등 지속가능 재료를 봉합·니팅으로 활용했다. 주름과 겹·니팅의 반복 구조는 생명 생성 유기적 과정을 상징한다.
◆ 정비고 리모델링 카페 그리브스…"차고지 크리스마스 파티" 개최
옛 미군 정비고를 리모델링한 카페 그리브스에서는 '차고지에서의 크리스마스 파티' 행사를 진행한다. 산업 분위기 공간에 크리스마스 장식과 포토존을 배치해 독특한 분위기 홈파티 공간으로 조성했다. 정비소 감성과 크리스마스 낭만을 동시에 경험하는 방식이다. 경기도는 연내 캠프그리브스 변천사를 스토리 중심으로 구성한 이야기관과 미군 부대 생활공간을 재현한 다큐3관 개관을 예정했다. 박미정 경기도 DMZ정책과장은 "자율관람 확대로 관람객 관심이 높아짐에 따라 예술과 체험이 공존하는 공간으로 발전시켜 DMZ 역사와 가치를 체감할 수 있는 대표 관광 명소로 만들어가겠다"고 밝혔다.

The structure consists of actual US military barracks covered with survival blankets bearing numerous folds. The work expresses wrinkles on blanket surfaces as traces of fear and survival while embodying emotions of protection, warmth, and hope. The artist utilized sustainable materials including recycled plastic thread and Korean paper thread through seaming and knitting techniques. The repetitive structure of wrinkles, layers, and knitting symbolizes the organic process of life generation.
◆ Renovated US Military Garage Now Cafe Grieves: "Christmas Party at the Garage" Event Underway
The former US military maintenance garage, now Cafe Grieves, hosts the "Christmas Party at the Garage" event. The industrial-atmosphere space incorporates Christmas decorations and photo zones to create a unique home party atmosphere. Visitors experience both maintenance garage aesthetic and Christmas romance simultaneously. Gyeonggi-do plans to open a Story Hall featuring Camp Grieves' history centered on storytelling and a Documentary 3 Hall recreating actual US military barracks living spaces before year-end. Park Mi-jeong, Director of DMZ Policy at Gyeonggi-do, stated: "As visitor interest increases following the expansion of self-guided tours, we will develop the space as a venue where art and experience coexist, establishing it as a representative tourism destination where visitors can directly experience DMZ history and value."
