로또 당첨 번호 예측 사이트를 운영하며 회원들로부터 7억원을 편취한 사기단이 경찰에 검거됐다.

◆ 예측 사이트 만들어 4개월간 범행

경기 시흥경찰서는 12일 A(30대)씨 등 6명(구속 2명)을 사기 등 혐의로 검찰에 송치했다고 밝혔다. A씨 등은 지난 4월부터 7월 사이 로또 당첨번호 예측 사이트를 만들었다. 이들은 이 사이트를 통해 회원 32명을 모집하고 7억여원을 편취한 혐의를 받고 있다.

경찰에 따르면 A씨 등은 "로또에 당첨되지 않을 경우 돈을 돌려주겠다"고 회원들을 속인 것으로 파악됐다.

◆ 환불 요구하자 소송비용 명목 추가 편취

일부 피해자가 환불을 요구하자 A씨 등은 추가 범행을 저질렀다. 이들은 "전 대표에 소송을 걸어 돈을 돌려주겠다"고 속였다. A씨 등은 소송 비용 명목으로 피해자들로부터 추가 금액을 받아 챙긴 것으로 드러났다.

경찰은 이들의 여죄를 추궁하고 있다. 경찰은 공범 등에 대해서도 수사를 진행 중이다.
