2026학년도 대학수학능력시험이 13일 수도권을 포함한 전국에서 실시되며 55만4174명이 응시했다.
◆ 수도권 30개 시험지구서 시험 진행
서울시교육청은 동부·서부·남부·북부·중부·강동송파·강서양천·강남서초·동작관악·성동광진·성북강북 등 11개 시험지구에서 수능을 실시했다. 경기도교육청은 수원·성남·의정부·부천·평택안성·안양과천·고양·구리남양주·안산·광명·이천·용인·군포의왕·광주하남·화성오산·시흥·동두천양주·김포·파주 등 19개 시험지구에서 시험을 진행했다. 인천시교육청은 1개 시험지구를 운영했다.
수도권은 전국 85개 시험지구 중 30개 시험지구를 운영했다. 수험생은 소속 학교나 교육청 관할 지역 내 고사장에 배정받았다. 고사장 배정은 성별·계열(사회탐구·과학탐구)·제2외국어 선택 여부에 따라 구분됐다.
◆ '사탐런' 현상으로 사회탐구 61% 선택
전국적으로 올해 수능 지원자는 55만4174명으로 최근 5년 중 최대 규모다. 탐구 영역을 선택한 53만6875명 중 사회탐구만 선택한 지원자는 32만4405명(61.0%)으로 집계됐다. 과학탐구만 선택한 지원자는 12만692명(22.7%)에 그쳤다.
전년도 수능에서 사회탐구만 선택한 지원자는 26만1508명(51.8%)이었다. 올해 사회탐구 선택 비율이 10% 가까이 상승하며 '사탐런' 현상이 심화됐다. 일부 대학이 자연계열 모집 단위에서 과학탐구 필수 제한을 풀면서 이 같은 현상이 강화됐다.

◆ 재수생 감소, 재학생 비중 증가
자격별로는 재학생이 37만1897명(67.1%), 졸업생이 15만9922명(28.9%)이었다. 재학생은 전년 대비 3만1120명 증가했고, 졸업생은 1862명 감소했다. 2007년 황금돼지띠 출생자가 많아 재학생 응시자가 크게 늘었다.
출제위원회는 "킬러문항은 배제하고 적정 난이도를 유지했다"고 밝혔다. 교육부는 시험 당일 교통·소음·기상 특별대책을 발표했고, 모든 시험장은 코로나19 감염 예방 및 안전관리 지침을 적용했다.

◆ Tests Conducted in 30 Test Districts in Seoul Metropolitan Area
The Seoul Office of Education conducted the CSAT in 11 test districts including Eastern, Western, Southern, Northern, Central, Gangdong-Songpa, Gangseo-Yangcheon, Gangnam-Seocho, Dongjak-Gwanak, Seongdong-Gwangjin, and Seongbuk-Gangbuk. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education conducted tests in 19 test districts including Suwon, Seongnam, Uijeongbu, Bucheon, Pyeongtaek-Anseong, Anyang-Gwacheon, Goyang, Guri-Namyangju, Ansan, Gwangmyeong, Icheon, Yongin, Gunpo-Uiwang, Gwangju-Hanam, Hwaseong-Osan, Siheung, Dongducheon-Yangju, Gimpo, and Paju. The Incheon Office of Education operated one test district.
The Seoul metropolitan area operated 30 of the nation's 85 test districts. Test-takers were assigned to test sites within their school or education office jurisdiction. Test site assignments were divided by gender, field (social studies/science studies), and selection of second foreign language.
◆ 61% Choose Social Studies Due to 'Satamrun' Phenomenon
Nationwide, this year's CSAT applicants totaled 554,174, the largest in recent five years. Among 536,875 who selected inquiry areas, 324,405 (61.0%) chose only social studies. Those who chose only science studies numbered 120,692 (22.7%).
In last year's CSAT, 261,508 (51.8%) chose only social studies. This year's social studies selection rate increased by nearly 10%, intensifying the 'Satamrun' phenomenon. This phenomenon strengthened as some universities lifted mandatory science studies requirements for natural science majors.
◆ Decrease in Repeat Test-Takers, Increase in Current Students
By qualification, current students numbered 371,897 (67.1%) and graduates 159,922 (28.9%). Current students increased by 31,120 from the previous year, while graduates decreased by 1,862. The large number of births in 2007, the year of the golden pig, significantly increased current student test-takers.
The examination committee stated, "We excluded killer questions and maintained appropriate difficulty." The Ministry of Education announced special measures for transportation, noise, and weather on the test day, and all test sites applied COVID-19 infection prevention and safety management guidelines.
