인천광역시교육청 동아시아국제교육원(원장 김수로)은 6월부터 11월까지 인천 지역 초·중학교와 뉴질랜드 학교가 함께하는 ‘아이뉴스쿨 새싹과정’ 온라인 국제공동수업을 운영하고 있다.
올해 프로그램에는 공촌초, 공항초, 굴포초, 경인교대부설초, 논곡초, 마장초, 명선초, 신정초, 운서초, 세계로국제학교, 송도중 등 11개교 229명이 참여했다.
각 학교별로 총 4회 진행되는 수업은 ‘WasteWise Project’를 주제로 기후행동(SDG 13)과 해양생태계 보전(SDG 14)을 중심으로 한다. 학생들은 지속가능한 환경 보호를 위한 아이디어를 나누고 실천 과제를 수행하며 세계시민 역량을 강화하고 있다.
교육원은 학생들이 국제적 관점에서 환경 문제를 이해하고 환경 감수성을 높이도록 돕고 있다.
교육원 관계자는 “아이뉴스쿨 새싹과정은 단순한 교류가 아니라 지구적 문제 해결에 함께 참여하는 세계시민교육의 장”이라며 “앞으로도 국제사회와 함께 배우고 성장할 수 있는 교육 프로그램을 확대하겠다”고 말했다.

Incheon East Asia Global Education Institute Runs Online Joint Classes with New Zealand Schools
The East Asia Global Education Institute under the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education has been running the “I-New School Seedling Program,” an online international joint class with New Zealand schools, from June to November.
A total of 229 students from 11 participating schools—including Gongchon Elementary, Gonghang Elementary, Gulpocheon Elementary, Gyeongin National University of Education Elementary School, Nongok Elementary, Majang Elementary, Myungseon Elementary, Sinjeong Elementary, Unseo Elementary, Segero International School, and Songdo Middle School—joined the program.
Each school participates in four sessions built around the “WasteWise Project,” focusing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13 (Climate Action) and 14 (Life Below Water). Students share ideas on environmental protection and engage in practical activities that strengthen global citizenship and environmental awareness.
According to the institute, the program helps students understand global environmental challenges and encourages them to develop responsibility as global citizens.
A program official said, “The I-New School Seedling Program goes beyond cultural exchange and serves as a platform for global citizenship education aimed at solving global issues. We will continue to expand programs that allow students to learn and grow within the international community.”
