서울 마포구(구청장 박강수) 망원시장상인회가 '제30회 한국유통대상'에서 유통대상 단체부문 대통령 표창을 수상했다. 한국유통대상은 산업통상자원부가 주최하고 대한상공회의소와 매일경제신문사가 공동 주관한다. 이 시상식은 유통산업 발전과 경쟁력 강화에 기여한 기관과 단체를 선정해 포상한다. 망원시장상인회는 전통시장 브랜드 경쟁력 강화, 청년 상인 유입 및 육성, 콘텐츠 중심 시장 활성화, 지역사회 연계 상생 유통 모델 구축 등에서 우수한 성과를 인정받았다.
◆ 문화관광형시장으로 탈바꿈…축제·체험 프로그램 운영
망원시장은 전통시장 고유의 정체성을 유지하면서 문화관광형시장으로 변화했다. 망원시장상인회는 망원커피페스트, 망원비어페스트 등 지역 특성을 살린 축제를 꾸준히 개최했다. 상인회는 시장 골목 곳곳에서 공연과 체험 프로그램, 참여형 이벤트를 운영한다. 망원시장은 단순한 장보기 공간을 넘어 머무르며 즐기는 공간으로 확장됐다. 이러한 노력은 MZ세대와 외국인 관광객까지 찾는 도심형 전통시장으로 성장하는 원동력이 됐다.
◆ 마포구, 보행 안전 강화·접근성 개선 지원
마포구는 방문객이 안전하고 편리하게 시장을 찾을 수 있도록 환경 개선을 추진했다. 마포구는 방울내 나들목(한강공원)부터 망원로(망원시장)로 이어지는 보행 동선에 태양광 LED 표지병을 설치했다. 마포구는 마포순환열차버스를 활용해 망원시장 접근성을 높였다. 박강수 마포구청장은 "망원시장상인회의 대통령 표창 수상은 전통시장이 스스로의 경쟁력과 혁신을 통해 충분히 성장할 수 있음을 보여주는 뜻깊은 성과"라며 "마포구는 앞으로도 전통시장과 상인이 지속적으로 성장할 수 있도록 지원을 이어가겠다"고 밝혔다. 한편 마포구는 지난해 10월 17일 '2025 전통시장 및 상점가 활성화 유공 포상' 시상식에서 마포농수산물시장이 행정안전부 장관 표창을, 용강동상점가가 중소벤처기업부 장관 표창을 받았다. 김은종 망원시장 상인회장과 남성희 아현시장 상인회 감사도 각각 중소벤처기업부 장관 표창을 수상했다.

The ceremony selects and rewards organizations that contributed to distribution industry development and competitiveness enhancement. The Mangwon Market Merchants Association earned recognition for strengthening traditional market brand competitiveness, attracting and nurturing young merchants, content-centered market revitalization, and establishing win-win distribution models linked with local communities.

Mangwon Market transformed into a culture-tourism market while maintaining its traditional market identity. The Mangwon Market Merchants Association consistently held festivals highlighting local characteristics such as Mangwon Coffee Fest and Mangwon Beer Fest. Meanwhile, at the '2025 Traditional Market and Shopping Street Revitalization Merit Awards' ceremony held on October 17 last year, Mapo Agricultural and Marine Products Market received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Citation, and Yonggang-dong Shopping Street received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Citation. Mangwon Market Merchants Association Chairman Kim Eun-jong and Ahyeon Market Merchants Association Auditor Nam Seong-hee also received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Citation respectively.
