시흥능곡고등학교(교장 이재선)가 수업과 진로, 학생자치가 유기적으로 연결된 통합형 학교 예술 축제를 선보였다.
시흥능곡고는 24일 교내에서 '마음밭 예술제'를 개최했다. 이번 예술제는 학생자치회와 함께 축제 전반을 기획·운영하며 학생 주도성을 살리는 데 중점을 뒀다. 예술 활동을 통해 협력과 배려의 가치를 실천하는 인성 중심 학교 문화 축제로 마련됐다.
마음밭 예술제는 수업과 진로, 학생자치 활동이 유기적으로 연결된 통합 구조로 운영됐다. 1학년은 음악 수업과 연계해 지휘자와 반주자를 중심으로 한 합창 활동을 통해 음악적 표현력과 앙상블의 의미를 경험했다. 2학년은 진로와 연계한 뮤지컬 활동을 통해 공연 제작 과정과 무대·연출·음향 등 다양한 역할을 탐색하는 기회를 가졌다. 2학년 뮤지컬은 예술·체육융합 사업과 연계해 운영됐다.
학급별 부스 운영과 학생자치회가 기획·운영한 공연 프로그램도 함께 진행됐다. 학생들은 단순한 관람자에 그치지 않고 축제의 기획자이자 운영 주체로 적극 참여했다. 학교 도서관을 비롯한 교내 여러 공간에서 참여형 프로그램이 운영돼 학교 공간 전반이 문화와 예술이 어우러지는 축제의 장으로 활용됐다.
학교 담당 교사는 "마음밭 예술제는 예술 활동을 통해 학생들이 서로를 존중하고 협력하며 공동체의 가치를 배우는 인성 중심의 학교 문화 축제"라며 "앞으로도 수업과 진로, 자치 활동이 유기적으로 연결되는 예술 교육을 지속적으로 운영해 나갈 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
이번 마음밭 예술제는 교과 연계 합창 활동, 진로 기반 뮤지컬 활동, 학급별 부스 운영, 학생자치 중심의 공연 기획이 조화를 이루며 학교 예술 교육이 배움과 인성, 진로로 자연스럽게 확장될 수 있음을 보여준 사례로 평가받고 있다.

Student council leads planning; festival combines choir, musical, and booths in unified celebration
Siheung Neunggok High School (Principal Lee Jae-seon) presented an integrated school arts festival organically connecting classes, career exploration, and student self-governance.
Siheung Neunggok High School held the "Maeum-bat Art Festival" on campus on December 24. The festival was planned and operated in collaboration with the student council, with emphasis on fostering student initiative. It was organized as a character-centered school culture festival practicing the values of cooperation and consideration through artistic activities.
The Maeum-bat Art Festival was characterized by its integrated structure connecting classes, career exploration, and student council activities. First-year students experienced musical expression and the meaning of ensemble through choir activities centered on conductors and accompanists in connection with music classes. Second-year students had opportunities to explore various roles including stage direction, production, and sound through musical activities linked to career exploration. The second-year musical was operated in conjunction with the arts and physical education convergence program.
Class booth operations and performance programs planned and operated by the student council were also conducted. Students actively participated not merely as spectators but as festival planners and operators. Participatory programs were operated in various campus spaces including the school library, utilizing the entire school as a festival venue where culture and arts come together.
A teacher in charge stated, "The Maeum-bat Art Festival is a character-centered school culture festival where students learn to respect and cooperate with each other and understand the value of community through artistic activities." The teacher added, "We plan to continue operating arts education that organically connects classes, career exploration, and self-governance activities."
The Maeum-bat Art Festival is being recognized as a meaningful example demonstrating how school arts education can naturally extend into learning, character development, and career exploration through the harmony of curriculum-linked choir activities, career-based musical activities, class booth operations, and student council-centered performance planning.
