◆ 빌라 높이 2배 30m 나무…전도 시 피해 우려

고선희 인천 서구의원(더불어민주당·나선거구)이 현장 점검을 통해 제기한 가좌동 인근 빌라를 위협하는 대형 나무에 대한 벌채 작업이 18일 완료됐다.

앞서 고 의원은 지난 11월 4일 가좌동 일대 빌라를 향해 기울어진 대형 나무에 대한 주민 민원을 접수하고 현장을 직접 점검했다. 해당 나무는 빌라 높이의 약 2배인 30m 규모였다. 당시 나무는 빌라 옥상을 지나는 전신주와 나뭇가지가 맞닿아 있어 강풍이나 태풍 발생 시 전도로 인한 피해 위험이 매우 높은 상황이었다.

◆ 서구청, 주민 동의 거쳐 벌채…2차 피해 예방

고 의원의 요청에 따라 서구청은 주민 동의 절차를 거쳐 벌채를 추진했다. 이번 작업에서는 빌라와 전신주보다 아래 수준까지 나무를 절단해 빌라를 덮칠 수 있는 위험과 전신주 손상에 따른 화재·정전 등 2차 피해 가능성을 사전에 예방했다.

◆ "안전 최우선 선제적 대응에 힘쓰겠다"

고선희 의원은 "이번 벌채는 안전사고를 미리 차단한 예방 행정의 모범 사례"라며 "신속하게 조치를 취해 준 서구청 관계 부서에도 감사의 뜻을 전한다"고 말했다. 고 의원은 "앞으로도 생활 현장 속 위험 요소를 직접 확인하고 구민의 안전을 최우선으로 하는 선제적 대응에 힘쓰겠다"고 밝혔다.
