◆ 방치된 해안가에 해양관광 거점 시설 조성

인천 동구(구청장 김찬진)는 지난 22일 해양관광활성화 거점인 만석·화수 해안산책로 연계 복합건축물을 준공했다고 밝혔다. 만석동 해안가는 과거 주민들의 삶의 터전이자 어린이들의 추억 공간으로 남아 있지만 산업화로 물류창고·공장들이 대거 입주하면서 접근조차 불가한 상태로 오랜 기간 방치됐다.

동구는 만석동 해안가에서 서해 바다의 아름다운 저녁노을을 감상하며 산책할 수 있는 공간인 만석·화수 해안산책로를 꾸준히 정비해왔다. 이번에 거점 문화공간인 복합건축물까지 조성하게 됐다.

◆ 총사업비 133억 투입…전시·레스토랑·콘퍼런스 공간 운영

만석·화수 해안산책로 연계 복합건축물은 해안산책로 1단계에 위치한 국방부 미사용 부지를 도시계획시설 문화시설로 지정하고 총사업비 약 133억 원을 투입해 건립했다. 1층에는 예술전시와 팝업, 2층은 레스토랑, 3층은 문화행사와 콘퍼런스를 개최하는 공간으로 운영된다.

해당 시설의 운영은 지난 4월 제안서 평가 등을 통해 선정된 ㈜공공스토리사업단(대표 허승량)이 맡는다. 운영사는 과거 송도국제도시 솔찬공원에서 '케이슨24'를 운영한 경험을 바탕으로 지역 활성화와 이용객 만족도를 높일 것으로 기대된다.

◆ "제물포구 해양친수 거점으로 자리매김할 것"

허승량 ㈜공공스토리사업단 대표는 "만석·화수 해안선 벨트에 새로운 역사를 쓰겠다는 사명감을 가지고 운영하겠다"며 "지역 활성화와 제물포구에 기여할 수 있는 역할을 맡겠다"고 말했다.

김찬진 동구청장은 "여가 생활에 밀착된 해양친수공간을 구민들에게 제공할 수 있게 돼 뜻깊게 생각한다"며 "복합건축물은 제물포구의 중요한 해양친수 거점 공간으로 자리매김해 경제 활성화와 지역 발전을 이끌어낼 것"이라고 밝혔다.

Incheon Dong-gu District (District Mayor Kim Chan-jin) announced on December 22 that it completed the Manseok-Hwasu Coastal Trail Complex Building, a hub for marine tourism revitalization. The Manseok-dong coastline remains a memory of residents' livelihoods and children's childhood, but was neglected for a long period as logistics warehouses and factories moved in en masse during industrialization, making access impossible.

Dong-gu has steadily maintained the Manseok-Hwasu Coastal Trail, a space where visitors can enjoy beautiful evening sunsets over the West Sea while walking. The district has now completed a complex building as a hub cultural space.

◆ 13.3 Billion Won Invested…Operating Exhibition, Restaurant, and Conference Spaces

The Manseok-Hwasu Coastal Trail Complex Building was constructed by designating unused Ministry of National Defense land located in Phase 1 of the coastal trail as an urban planning cultural facility and investing approximately 13.3 billion won in total project costs. The first floor operates art exhibitions and pop-ups, the second floor houses a restaurant, and the third floor serves as a space for cultural events and conferences.

Public Story Business Group Co., Ltd. (CEO Heo Seung-ryang), selected through proposal evaluations in April, will operate the facility. The operator is expected to enhance regional revitalization and visitor satisfaction based on experience operating 'Caisson 24' at Solchan Park in Songdo International City.

◆ "Will Establish as Marine Waterfront Hub for Jemulpo-gu"

Heo Seung-ryang, CEO of Public Story Business Group Co., Ltd., said, "We will operate with a sense of mission to write new history in the Manseok-Hwasu coastline belt," adding, "We will take on a role that can contribute to regional revitalization and Jemulpo-gu."

Dong-gu District Mayor Kim Chan-jin stated, "It is meaningful that we can provide residents with marine waterfront spaces closely connected to leisure life," adding, "The complex building will establish itself as an important marine waterfront hub space for Jemulpo-gu and lead economic revitalization and regional development."
