◆ 서울경찰청 연말 음주운전 집중 단속 실시

서울경찰청이 연말을 맞아 강남권 대로를 중심으로 음주운전 집중 단속에 나선다. 서울경찰청은 18일 서울 시내 31개 경찰서가 동시에 참여하는 대대적인 음주운전 단속을 실시한다고 밝혔다. 이번 단속은 교통 가용 경력을 총동원해 주야간 구분 없이 진행한다. 강남권에서는 연말까지 매일 음주운전 단속을 실시한다.

◆ 12월 음주운전 사고 연중 최다…강남 관할 1위

서울경찰청에 따르면 최근 3년(2022~2024년) 평균 월별 음주운전 교통사고는 12월이 196.3건으로 가장 많았다. 부상자 수도 335.0명으로 최고치를 기록했다. 사망자 수는 평균 1.3명으로 집계됐다.

경찰서별로 보면 최근 3년 평균 음주운전 교통사고는 강남경찰서 관할이 421.3건으로 가장 많았다. 송파경찰서 309.0건, 영등포경찰서 285.0건이 뒤를 이었다. 연도별로도 강남 관할 음주운전 사고는 2022년 552건, 2023년 392건, 2024년 320건으로 지속적으로 높은 수치를 기록했다.

◆ 무작위·이동식 단속 병행…단속 실효성 강화

서울경찰청은 연말 음주운전 교통사고 위험이 높은 강남권 대로에서 무작위 단속과 이동식 단속을 병행해 단속 실효성을 높인다는 계획이다.

박정보 서울경찰청장은 "최근 3년간 음주운전 사고가 가장 자주 발생한 강남권을 중심으로 대대적인 단속을 실시하는 것은 단속 그 자체를 넘어 음주운전 근절에 대한 경찰의 강한 의지를 시민들에게 전달하기 위한 것"이라며 "음주운전을 예방하고 안전한 교통문화를 조성하는 것이 목적"이라고 밝혔다.
