인천 연수경찰서가 유승민 전 국회의원의 딸 유담(31)씨의 인천대 교수 임용 과정에서 특혜 의혹이 제기되자 수사에 착수했다.

경찰은 4일 공공기록물 관리에 관한 법률 위반 혐의로 인천대 이인재 총장과 교무처 인사팀, 채용 심사위원, 채용 기록 관리 담당자 등을 상대로 한 고발장을 접수했다고 밝혔다.

더불어민주당 진선미 의원은 지난달 28일 인천대 국정감사에서 "31살 유담 교수가 인천대 무역학부 교수로 임용된 것에 이의 제기가 많다"고 지적했다. 진 의원은 "유 교수는 논문 질적 심사에서 18.6점으로 16위 정도의 하위권인데, 학력·경력·논문 양적 심사에서 만점을 받아 1차 심사를 전체 2위로 통과했다"고 주장했다.

◆ 경찰 "고발장 접수 사실 확인"

경찰 관계자는 "고발장 접수는 맞다"며 "구체적인 내용은 밝힐 수 없다"고 말했다.

Rep. Jin claimed that "Professor Yoo scored 18.6 points in the qualitative thesis evaluation, ranking around 16th in the lower tier, but received perfect scores in academic background, career, and quantitative thesis evaluation, passing the first round in 2nd place overall."

◆ Police confirm "complaint received"

A police official said "the complaint was received" and added "we cannot reveal specific details."
