인천 남항 석탄부두가 2031년 공식 폐쇄된다.
제물포주권 포럼은 5일 논평을 내고 정부와 인천시, 인천항만공사(IPA)에 재개발 마스터플랜 즉각 수립을 촉구했다.
포럼이 해양수산부를 통해 확인한 결과, 남항 석탄 물량을 대체할 동해신항 석탄부두 건설 사업이 2026년 착공해 2031년 완공된다. 총사업비 1천387억 원이 투입된다. 1988년 준공 후 40여 년간 운영된 남항 석탄부두는 동해신항 완공과 함께 폐쇄 수순을 밟는다.
허인환 포럼 대표는 "2031년 폐쇄 이후 남항이 인천의 새로운 성장 동력이 되도록 시민과 함께하는 재개발 마스터플랜 수립에 지금 당장 착수해야 한다"고 강조했다.

The total project cost is 138.7 billion won. The South Port coal terminal, operating for over 40 years since its 1988 completion, will enter closure procedures upon Donghae New Port's completion. Forum Representative Heo In-hwan emphasized, "We must immediately begin establishing a redevelopment master plan with citizens so that South Port becomes Incheon's new growth engine after the 2031 closure."
