마을버스의 노후화로 인해 고장이 자주 발생하고 운행이 중지되는 상황이 빈번하게 발생하고 있어 새로운 차량 도입이 절실한 상황이다. 인천 서구는 현재 신차 구입에 필요한 예산을 확보한 상태다. 2026년 상반기 중 새 버스가 운행에 투입될 예정이다. 인천 서구는 이번 사업을 통해 대곡동 주민들의 교통 편의성을 높이고 보다 나은 교통 환경을 만들기 위해 노력을 지속할 계획이다.

강범석 서구청장은 "이번 신차 구입은 대곡동 주민들에게 더 안전하고 편리한 교통 서비스를 제공하는 중요한 사업"이라고 말했다. 이어 "새로운 마을버스가 운행됨으로써 주민들이 더 편리하게 이동할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 전했다.
