인천 서구(구청장 강범석)는 (사)한국공공자치연구원이 주관하는 '2025 한국지방자치경쟁력지수(KLCI)' 평가에서 전국 69개 자치구 중 종합경쟁력 2위를 차지했다고 밝혔다. 한국지방자치경쟁력지수(Korea Local-autonomy Competitiveness Indices, KLCI)는 한국공공자치연구원이 1996년부터 매년 전국 226개 시(75개)·군(82개)·구(69개)를 대상으로 평가한다. 각 지방자치단체의 통계 연보와 정부 및 기관의 공식 통계자료를 분석해 지수화한다. 평가는 경영활동(300점), 경영자원(300점), 경영성과(400점) 3개 부문 점수를 합산해 종합경쟁력을 도출한다.
◆ 경영자원 부문 1위 달성
인천 서구는 총점 612.8점으로 전국 자치구 중 돋보이는 성과를 달성했다. 특히 경영자원 부문에서 1위를 기록했다. 인천 서구는 청라·루원·검단 3개 신도시를 중심으로 젊은 인구가 지속적으로 유입되며 풍부한 인적자원을 확보했다. 가속하는 도시 성장에 맞춰 광역 교통망을 구축했다. 생활환경의 질적 향상을 위해 문화공간을 조성하고 도시 인프라를 확충했다. 다양한 지역산업 육성을 통해 산업기반을 지원했다.
◆ 강범석 서구청장 발언
강범석 서구청장은 "서구가 한국지방자치종합경쟁력에서 꾸준히 우수 기관으로 선정되는 것은 객관적이고 의미 있는 성과"라고 말했다. 그는 "앞으로도 지속 가능한 도시 발전과 주민과의 상생을 통해 살기 좋은 서구로 만들겠다"고 밝혔다.
