15일 오전 4시 17분께 인천 계양구 인천공항고속도로 서울 방향 공항요금소(TG)와 노오지분기점(JC) 사이에서 5중 추돌 사고가 발생했다.

경찰에 따르면 2차로를 달리던 소형 SUV가 앞서 가던 차량 3대를 잇따라 들이받았다. 피해 차량 1대가 충격으로 1차로로 밀려나 정차했다. 이후 뒤따르던 승용차 1대가 이 차량을 들이받아 총 5대가 추돌했다.

이 사고로 2차 사고 운전자인 50대 여성과 40대 여성이 통증을 호소했다. 119구급대가 두 사람을 병원으로 이송해 현재 치료 중이다.

최초 사고를 낸 소형 SUV 운전자는 현장에서 도주했다. 경찰은 현장 폐쇄회로TV(CCTV) 영상을 확보해 운전자를 추적하고 있다.

경찰 관계자는 "최초 사고 차량이 갓길에 세웠다가 갑자기 도주했다"고 밝혔다. 이어 "현재 차적을 조회해 위치를 파악하고 있다"고 말했다.

A 5-car pileup occurred on the Seoul-bound lane of Incheon Airport Expressway between Airport Tollgate (TG) and Nooji Junction (JC) in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, at approximately 4:17 a.m. on December 15.

According to police, a small SUV traveling in the second lane struck three vehicles ahead in succession. One damaged vehicle was pushed into the first lane and stopped. Another car following behind then rear-ended that vehicle, resulting in a total of five cars involved in the collision.

A woman in her 50s and a woman in her 40s, both drivers in the secondary collision, complained of pain. Paramedics transported them to a hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

The driver of the small SUV that caused the initial accident fled the scene. Police secured CCTV footage from the scene and are tracking the driver.

A police official stated, "The vehicle that caused the initial accident stopped on the shoulder and then suddenly fled." The official added, "We are currently checking vehicle registration records to determine the location."
