학교 비정규직 노동자 5만3천여 명이 20일부터 4일간 릴레이 총파업에 돌입했다. 전체 인원의 12.9%가 파업에 참여했다.
◆ 주먹밥·샌드위치로 대체 급식
급식조리사 파업으로 1,089개 학교가 급식을 운영하지 않았다. 일부 학교는 주먹밥과 샌드위치로 대체 급식을 제공했다. 초등 돌봄도 25개 학교에서 이뤄지지 못했다.
한 초등학교 2학년 학생은 "급식이 제대로 나오지 않아 불편했다. 손으로 먹어야 했다"고 말했다.
◆ 기본급 인상·방학 중 무임금 해결 요구
전국학교비정규직노동조합은 기본급 인상과 방학 중 무임금 문제 해결을 요구하며 교육부와 8차례 교섭을 진행했지만 접점을 찾지 못했다.
민태호 전국학교비정규직노동조합 위원장은 "학교 비정규직 노동의 가치가 정규직 대비 평균 90%가 넘는다"며 "공무원의 90% 넘는 임금을 받아야 한다"고 밝혔다.
강주호 한국교총 회장은 "어떠한 명분도 학생들의 밥 먹을 권리와 안전하게 보호받을 권리를 침해하는 것을 정당화할 수 없다"며 급식과 돌봄 파업 시 대체인력 투입을 법으로 정하자고 주장했다.
양측은 추가 교섭을 진행하겠다는 입장이지만 의견 차를 좁히지 못하면 내년 신학기 총파업까지 거론된다.

Kang Joo-ho, chairman of the Korean Federation of Teachers' Associations, argued "No justification can legitimize infringement of students' right to eat and be safely protected" and proposed legally mandating substitute workers during meal and childcare strikes.
Both sides plan to proceed with additional negotiations, but if they fail to narrow differences, a total strike in the new semester next year is mentioned.
