◆ 17일 관곡지 일대서 두 행사 진행...60여 명 초등생 참여
시흥시의회 교육복지위원회(위원장 김진영)가 10월 17일 하중동 관곡지 일대에서 열린 '시흥시학교급식지원센터 체험학습'과 '한국4-H시흥시본부 호조벌 벼베기 행사'에 참석해 관내 초등학생 60여 명과 함께 추수 체험을 진행했다. 시흥시학교급식지원센터가 주최한 체험학습에는 정왕초등학교 학생 30여 명이 참여해 벼베기, 탈곡기 체험, 도정 과정 관찰 등 쌀 생산 과정을 직접 경험했다. 한국4-H시흥시본부가 주최한 호조벌 벼베기 행사에는 도창초등학교 학생 30여 명이 참여해 전통 방식으로 벼를 수확하며 호조벌의 의미를 배우는 시간을 가졌다.
◆ 낫으로 벼베기·탈곡기 체험...호조벌 전통 방식 수확
학생들은 낫을 들고 논에서 직접 벼를 베어 보고, 탈곡기를 이용해 쌀알을 분리하는 과정을 체험했다. 도정기를 통해 쌀이 가공되는 모습을 관찰하며 지역 농산물의 가치를 체감했다. 호조벌 벼베기 행사에 참여한 학생들은 전통 방식으로 벼를 수확하며 시흥의 역사와 문화가 담긴 호조벌의 의미를 배웠다.
◆ 오인열 의장도 격려 방문...김진영 위원장 "농업 가치 실천하길"
교육복지위원회 위원들은 두 행사 현장을 차례로 방문해 학생들과 직접 벼를 수확하며 농업의 소중함을 공유했다. 시흥시의회 오인열 의장도 격려차 방문해 학생들을 격려했다. 김진영 위원장은 "이번 체험학습이 학생들에게 쌀 한 톨에 담긴 농가 수고와 자연의 소중함을 느끼는 계기가 됐길 바란다"며 "앞으로도 학생들이 오늘 체험한 농업의 가치를 가정과 마을에서 실천하며, 시흥의 건강한 먹거리 문화를 함께 만들어가길 바란다"고 밝혔다.

About 30 students from Jeongwang Elementary School participated in the experience learning hosted by the Siheung City School Meals Support Center and directly experienced the rice production process, including rice harvesting, thresher experience, and milling process observation. About 30 students from Dochang Elementary School participated in the Hojobeol rice harvesting event hosted by Korea 4-H Siheung City Headquarters, harvesting rice in the traditional way and learning the meaning of Hojobeol.

Students held sickles and harvested rice directly in the rice paddies, and experienced the process of separating rice grains using a thresher.
