내란 특검팀(특별검사 조은석)은 13일 서울중앙지법에서 열린 윤석열 전 대통령의 결심공판에서 사형을 구형했다. 윤 전 대통령은 12·3 비상계엄 선포로 국헌을 문란하게 한 혐의(내란 우두머리)로 구속 기소됐다.
전직 대통령 사형 구형은 1996년 전두환씨 재판 이후 약 30년 만이다. 특검팀은 "윤석열은 위헌·위법한 비상계엄으로 국회 기능을 훼손하고 국민의 자유에 중대한 위협을 가했다"며 "민주주의 훼손이 반복돼서는 안 된다"고 밝혔다.
특검팀은 김용현 전 국방부 장관에게 무기징역, 노상원 전 국군정보사령관에게 징역 30년, 조지호 전 경찰청장에게 징역 20년을 구형했다.

The insurrection special counsel team (Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok) sought the death penalty for former President Yoon Suk-yeol at the sentencing hearing held at Seoul Central District Court on January 13.
Yoon was indicted on charges of leading an insurrection by disrupting the constitutional order through the December 3 emergency martial law declaration. This is the first death penalty request for a former president in approximately 30 years since the 1996 trial of Chun Doo-hwan. The special counsel stated, "Yoon Suk-yeol undermined National Assembly functions through unconstitutional and illegal emergency martial law and posed serious threats to citizens' freedom.
The destruction of democracy must never be repeated." The team sought life imprisonment for former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, 30 years for former Defense Intelligence Command chief Noh Sang-won, and 20 years for former Police Commissioner Cho Ji-ho.
