◆ NASA 케네디우주센터서 현장 교육 실시

인천광역시교육청은 11일(현지시간) 미국 NASA 케네디우주센터(KSC)에서 인천세계로배움학교 항공우주아카데미 현지 교육 프로그램을 운영했다. 도성훈 교육감이 추진한 읽걷쓰 기반 올바로 결대로 세계로 교육의 일환이다. 지도교사와 학생 17명이 참여했다. 학생들은 세계 수준의 우주과학 현장을 직접 경험하며 읽고-걷고-쓰는 자기주도형 성장 과정을 실현했다.

◆ 우주 발사기지 탐방과 심화 교육 체험

참가 학생들은 NASA의 우주 발사기지를 탐방했다. 아폴로 계획과 우주왕복선 시대의 역사를 배웠다. 현재 진행 중인 유인 우주 탐사 프로그램 관련 심화형 전시와 실습 중심 교육 활동을 체험했다. 새턴V 로켓 전시 관람, 우주왕복선 아틀란티스 내부 체험, 로켓 발사 시뮬레이션, 우주 비행사와의 직접 대화가 진행됐다. 학생들은 우주과학에 대한 통찰과 진로 동기를 얻었다. 참여 학생 한 명은 "나를 읽고 우주를 꿈꾸며 미래를 쓰다라는 교육 목표 아래 평생 잊지 못할 경험을 했다"며 "미래 우주 연구의 핵심이 협력과 소통임을 깨달았다"고 말했다.

◆ 글로벌 인재 육성 위한 교육 확산 기대

인천시교육청은 이번 NASA 체험이 학생 개개인의 잠재력을 존중하는 인천세계로배움학교의 취지를 살리는 계기가 될 것으로 보고 있다. 자기주도적 성장을 지향하는 읽걷쓰 AI 사업이 글로벌 현장으로 확산되는 중요한 사례가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다. 인천시교육청 관계자는 "우주는 더 이상 상상의 공간이 아니라 과학적 도전과 인류의 미래를 담보하는 실천의 영역"이라며 "과학·공학·기술·수학 등 다양한 분야가 융합된 항공우주 해외 체험을 통해 학생들이 AI 시대 자기 주도성과 협업 역량을 키우고 미래 사회에서 창의적으로 문제를 해결할 수 있는 글로벌 인재로 성장하길 기대한다"고 말했다.

17 students participate in space science field experience, providing opportunities for global talent development

◆ On-site education at NASA Kennedy Space Center

The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education operated the Incheon Global Learning School Aviation and Space Academy on-site education program at NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in the United States on the 11th (local time). This is part of the Read-Walk-Write-based education promoted by Superintendent Do Seong-hoon. Supervising teachers and 17 students participated. Students directly experienced world-class space science sites and realized a self-directed growth process of reading-walking-writing.

◆ Space launch site tour and in-depth educational experience

Participating students toured NASA's space launch sites. They learned about the history of the Apollo program and the Space Shuttle era. They experienced in-depth exhibitions and hands-on educational activities related to ongoing manned space exploration programs. Activities included viewing the Saturn V rocket exhibition, experiencing the interior of Space Shuttle Atlantis, rocket launch simulations, and direct conversations with astronauts. Students gained insights into space science and career motivation. One participating student said, "I had an unforgettable experience under the educational goal of reading myself, dreaming of space, and writing the future," and "I realized that the core of future space research is cooperation and communication."

◆ Expectations for expanding education for nurturing global talent

The Incheon Office of Education views this NASA experience as an opportunity to fulfill the purpose of the Incheon Global Learning School, which respects the potential of each student. It expects this to be an important example of the Read-Walk-Write AI project, which aims for self-directed growth, expanding into global field experiences. An official from the Incheon Office of Education said, "Space is no longer a realm of imagination but a domain of practice that guarantees scientific challenges and humanity's future," and "We expect students to develop self-directedness and collaboration capabilities in the AI era through overseas aviation and space experiences that integrate various fields such as science, engineering, technology, and mathematics, and grow into global talents who can creatively solve problems in future society."
