◆ 유네스코 ESD 공식프로젝트 인증

인천시교육청은 '바다학교: 인천 섬·바다·연안습지교육'이 올해 유네스코(UNESCO) 지속가능발전교육(ESD) 공식프로젝트 인증을 받았다고 12일 밝혔다. 유네스코 ESD 공식프로젝트는 2년마다 우수 사례를 발굴한다. 올해는 전국 57개 기관이 참여해 23개 프로젝트가 최종 선정됐다. 바다학교는 주제 적합성, 독창성, 포용성 등 5개 기준과 ESD 2030 핵심 요소 충족 여부 심사를 거쳐 최종 명단에 이름을 올렸다.

◆ 인천 특화 ESD 프로그램 운영

인천시교육청 바다학교는 인천 특화 ESD 프로그램이다. 교실 밖 섬과 바다와 연안습지로 학습 공간을 넓혔다. 바다학교는 섬에듀투어를 통한 자연경관과 생태계와 해양문화 학습, 지역사회 지속가능성을 위한 봉사활동, 생태모니터링 및 줍깅 등 실천 중심 활동을 운영하고 있다.

◆ 도성훈 교육감 향후 계획 밝혀

도성훈 인천시교육감은 "이번 선정이 섬과 해양 환경을 소중한 자원으로 인식하고 기후변화 대응 역량을 강화하는 데 중요한 계기가 될 것"이라며 "유네스코 인증 프로그램을 더욱 활성화해 지속 가능한 미래교육 기반을 강화하겠다"고 말했다.

◆ UNESCO ESD Official Project Certification

The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 12th that 'Sea School: Incheon Island, Sea, and Coastal Wetland Education' received UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Official Project certification this year. The UNESCO ESD Official Project discovers excellent cases every two years. This year, 57 institutions nationwide participated and 23 projects were finally selected. Sea School was included in the final list after undergoing evaluation on five criteria including topic suitability, originality, and inclusiveness, as well as fulfillment of ESD 2030 core elements.

◆ Operating Incheon-Specialized ESD Program

The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education's Sea School is an Incheon-specialized ESD program. It expanded learning spaces to islands, seas, and coastal wetlands outside the classroom. Sea School operates practice-oriented activities including natural landscape, ecosystem, and marine culture learning through Island Edu-Tour, volunteer activities for community sustainability, and ecological monitoring and plogging.

◆ Superintendent Do Seong-hoon Announces Future Plans

Incheon Metropolitan Superintendent of Education Do Seong-hoon said, "This selection will be an important opportunity to recognize island and marine environments as valuable resources and strengthen climate change response capabilities," adding, "We will further activate UNESCO-certified programs to strengthen the foundation for sustainable future education."
