◆ 수원시, ESG 행정으로 지방자치단체 대상 수상

수원특례시가 한국ESG학회 주최 '제3회 한국ESG대상' 지방자치단체 부문 대상을 받았다. 이재준 시장은 10일 서울 국회도서관 대강당에서 열린 시상식 참석해 상장을 수령했다. 이번 시상은 국가기관·지방자치단체·공공기관·기업 등 18개 부문에서 ESG종합부문, 환경(E)부문, 사회(S)부문, 거버넌스(G)부문별로 진행됐으며 수원시는 '지방자치단체 ESG종합 부문' 대상으로 선정됐다.

◆ 새빛정책으로 시민 주도 도시 건설 추진

수원시는 '인간과 환경이 공존하는 지속가능한 수원'을 비전으로 설정해 ESG 행정을 시정 전반에 적용했다. 새빛하우스(주거환경 개선), 수원기업새빛펀드(도시 자생력 강화), 손바닥정원·수원새빛돌봄(공동체회복) 등 정책을 통해 시민의 손으로 도시를 만들어가고 있다. 탄소중립 정책, 수원새빛돌봄, 새빛민원실 베테랑공무원 정책 등은 전국 지방자치단체의 벤치마킹 대상으로 확정됐다.

◆ SDGs 10개 영역 중심으로 정책 수립

수원시는 유엔 지속가능개발 목표(SDGs) 10개 영역을 중심으로 모든 정책 수립 과정에 지속가능발전 관점을 반영하고 있다. 이재준 시장은 "수원시는 ESG 가치를 행정 전반에 반영해 온 지속가능발전 선도도시"라고 말했다. 이어 "앞으로도 ESG 기반 행정으로 시민과 함께 지속가능한 도시를 만들어갈 것"이라고 덧붙였다.

◆ Suwon Receives Grand Prize in Local Government ESG Category

Suwon Metropolitan City won the Grand Prize in the Local Government Category at the '3rd Korea ESG Awards' hosted by the Korean ESG Society. Mayor Lee Jae-jun received the certificate at the awards ceremony held at the National Assembly Library Auditorium in Seoul on December 10. The awards program was conducted across 18 sectors including national institutions, local governments, public agencies, and corporations, with judging in comprehensive ESG, environment (E), society (S), and governance (G) categories. Suwon was selected as the Grand Prize winner in the 'Local Government ESG Comprehensive Category.'

◆ Suwon Implements Citizen-Led City Development Through Saebbit Policies

Suwon established the vision 'A Sustainable Suwon Where People and Environment Coexist' and applied ESG management throughout municipal administration. The city advances citizen-driven urban development through policies including Saebbit House (residential environment improvement), Suwon Enterprise Saebbit Fund (urban self-reliance enhancement), and Handful Garden·Suwon Saebbit Care (community recovery). Carbon neutrality policy, Suwon Saebbit Care, and the Saebbit Civil Petition Office Veteran Civil Servant Program have been designated as national benchmarking models for local governments nationwide.

◆ Policy Framework Based on 10 UN Sustainable Development Goals

Suwon reflects sustainable development principles in all policy-making processes centered on ten UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "Suwon is a pioneering city of sustainable development that has reflected ESG values throughout its administration." He added, "We will continue building a sustainable city together with citizens through ESG-based administration."
