◆ 비둘기 먹이주기 금지 본격화

고양특례시(시장 이동환)는 공공장소 10곳을 '유해야생동물 먹이 주기 금지구역'으로 지정했다. 2026년 1월 1일부터 6개월간 계도기간을 거쳐 2026년 7월 1일부터 과태료를 부과한다. 위반 시 1차 20만 원, 2차 50만 원, 3차 이상 최대 100만 원까지 부과된다.

◆ 도시 피해 최소화 추진

금지구역 10곳은 일산문화광장, 마두역광장, 주엽역광장, 낙민공원을 포함한 시민 다중 이용지역이다. 비둘기 등 유해야생동물로 인한 악취 발생, 건물 외벽 훼손, 질병 전파 등을 차단하려는 조치다. 고양특례시 관계자는 "비둘기 먹이주기는 선의로 보이지만 실질적으로는 시민 건강과 환경에 악영향을 미친다"고 설명했다.

◆ 계도기간 중 홍보·점검 병행

계도기간 동안 고양특례시는 안내판 설치, 홍보 활동, 현장 점검을 진행한다. 시는 이번 정책이 도시 속 사람과 야생동물의 조화로운 공존을 구현하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

The measure targets odor emissions, building facade damage, and disease transmission caused by pigeons and other harmful wildlife. A city official stated, "Feeding pigeons may appear benevolent, but it actually harms public health and the environment."

During the guidance period, Goyang Metropolitan City will install informational signs, conduct promotional campaigns, and perform on-site inspections. The city expects the policy to support harmonious coexistence between residents and wildlife in urban areas.
