◆ 전문가 위원회 출범, 폐교재산 관리 체계화

인천광역시교육청(교육감 도성훈)이 25일 '인천광역시교육청 폐교재산활용위원회' 위원을 위촉하고 제1회 정기회의를 개최했다. 위원회는 폐교 재산 관리와 활용 방안을 논의하기 위해 구성됐다.

◆ 13명 위원 구성, 2년간 활동

위원회는 교육행정국장이 위원장을 맡았다. 내부위원 6명과 교육·법률·시설·시의회 전문가인 민간위원 7명 등 총 13명으로 구성됐다. 위원회는 2025년 11월 1일부터 2027년 10월 31일까지 2년간 활동한다. 폐교재산 안전관리, 실태조사, 자산가치 분석, 유지·보수 계획, 지자체 요구사항 검토 등 자문 역할을 담당한다.

◆ 폐교 60곳 중 40곳 매각, 13곳 여전히 관리 중

인천 관내 폐교는 전체 60곳이다. 이 중 40곳은 이미 매각됐고, 7곳은 교육청이 자체 활용 중이다. 나머지 13곳은 교육청이 직접 관리하고 있다. 13곳 중 5곳은 타 기관에 대부 중이며, 8곳은 교육청이 직접 활용을 추진하고 있다. 도성훈 교육감은 "폐교가 학생과 지역사회에 도움이 되는 공간으로 재탄생할 수 있도록 전문가 의견을 반영해 활용 방안을 마련하겠다"고 말했다.
