코스피가 외국인과 기관의 대규모 차익실현 매물에 5거래일 만에 하락 마감했다.
11월 4일 한국거래소에 따르면 코스피지수는 전 거래일(4221.87)보다 100.13포인트(2.37%) 내린 4121.74에 장을 마쳤다. 코스피는 장 초반 4226선까지 반등하며 사상 최고치를 경신했으나 이내 하락 전환했다. 시가총액 상위 종목들이 일제히 하락세를 보이며 낙폭을 확대했다.
외국인과 기관은 각각 2조5,026억 원, 7,344억 원을 순매도했다. 개인은 3조1,976억 원을 순매수하며 매물을 받아냈다. 삼성전자(-5.58%), SK하이닉스(-5.48%), 현대차(-5.32%) 등이 크게 하락했다.
반면 코스닥지수는 전 거래일(914.55)보다 12.02포인트(1.31%) 오른 926.57에 마감했다. 외국인과 기관이 각각 2,234억 원, 1,635억 원을 순매수했다. HLB(13.68%), 알테오젠(4.97%) 등이 강세를 보였다.
임정은 KB증권 연구원은 "반도체 중심의 차익실현 매물이 출회되면서 코스피가 하락 전환했다"며 "코스닥 중심의 중소형주는 상대적으로 강세를 보이며 키 맞추기 흐름이 나타났다"고 분석했다.
서울 외환시장에서 원·달러 환율은 전 거래일(1428.8원)보다 9.1원 오른 1437.9원에 마감했다.

The KOSPI closed lower for the first time in five trading days due to large-scale profit-taking by foreigners and institutions.
According to the Korea Exchange on November 4, the KOSPI index closed at 4121.74, down 100.13 points (2.37%) from the previous trading day (4221.87). The KOSPI rebounded to the 4226 level in early trading, setting a new all-time high, but soon turned downward. The decline widened as top market cap stocks fell across the board.
Foreigners and institutions sold a net 2.5026 trillion won and 734.4 billion won, respectively. Individuals bought a net 3.1976 trillion won, absorbing the selling. Samsung Electronics (-5.58%), SK Hynix (-5.48%), and Hyundai Motor (-5.32%) fell sharply.
In contrast, the KOSDAQ index closed at 926.57, up 12.02 points (1.31%) from the previous trading day (914.55). Foreigners and institutions bought a net 223.4 billion won and 163.5 billion won, respectively. HLB (13.68%) and Alteogen (4.97%) showed strength.
Lim Jung-eun, a researcher at KB Securities, said, "The KOSPI turned downward as profit-taking centered on semiconductors was released," adding, "Small and mid-cap stocks centered on KOSDAQ showed relative strength, showing a catch-up flow."
The won-dollar exchange rate in the Seoul foreign exchange market closed at 1437.9 won, up 9.1 won from the previous trading day (1428.8 won).
