인천시 서구가 수도권매립지주민지원 미래복지재단과 '국공립 미래희망어린이집 무상 임대 기간 연장'에 관한 협약을 맺었다.
◆임대 기간 25개월 연장
서구는 당초 어린이집 무상 임대 기간이 2017년 3월부터 2027년 2월까지 10년이었으나 이번 협약에 따라 2029년 3월까지 25개월 더 연장됐다고 30일 밝혔다.
◆폐원 위기에서 연장 합의까지
이 어린이집은 지난 5월 재정상 어려움을 겪던 재단이 기존 협약 종료 후 임대 계약을 연장하지 않겠다는 의사를 밝히며 한때 폐원 위기를 맞았다.
내년 2월 어린이집 원장의 위탁계약이 종료되는 시점에 맞춰 재원 아동 50여명을 다른 어린이집으로 옮기는 방안이 추진되자 학부모들은 강하게 반발했다.
서구는 재단과 지속적인 협의를 통해 안정적인 보육 서비스를 유지하는 것에 공감대를 형성했고 어린이집 무상 임대 기간을 연장하기로 합의했다.
◆안정적 보육 환경 조성
강범석 서구청장은 "이번 협약은 서구가 지역사회공동체와 협력해 안전하고 신뢰받는 보육 환경을 함께 만들어 가겠다는 의지를 보여준 의미 있는 결과"라고 말했다.

◆25-Month Lease Extension
Seo-gu announced on the 29th that while the original free lease period for the daycare center was 10 years from March 2017 to February 2027, it has been extended by 25 months until March 2029 under this agreement.
◆From Closure Crisis to Extension Agreement
The daycare center faced a closure crisis in May when the foundation, experiencing financial difficulties, expressed its intention not to renew the lease contract after the existing agreement ended.
Parents strongly protested when a plan was promoted to transfer about 50 enrolled children to other daycare centers in line with the expiration of the daycare center director's consignment contract in February next year.
Seo-gu formed a consensus with the foundation through continuous discussions to maintain stable childcare services and agreed to extend the free lease period for the daycare center.
◆Creating a Stable Childcare Environment
Seo-gu District Mayor Kang Beom-seok said, "This agreement is a meaningful result that demonstrates Seo-gu's commitment to working with the local community to create a safe and trusted childcare environment."
