한국마사회는 '케이닉스'(K-Nicks)를 활용한 '한국형 셀렉트(Select) 경매' 제도를 도입해 '10월 제주 1세마 경매'에 성공적으로 적용했다고 23일 밝혔다.

케이닉스는 마사회가 자체 개발한 유전능력 평가체계다.

셀렉트 경매는 경마 선진국에서 시행 중인 프리미엄 경매 방식으로, 전문위원이 혈통·마체(馬體)·자세·순치상태 등을 종합 평가해 우수 경주마만 선별·출품하는 제도다.

판매자는 우수마 생산을 장려 받고, 구매자는 한정된 시간 안에 양질의 말을 효율적으로 선택할 수 있다.

마사회는 2013년부터 혈통평가를 제외한 '세미 셀렉트'(Semi-Select) 경매를 운영해왔다. 올해부터는 여기에 케이닉스를 적용하기 시작했다.

마사회는 객관적이고 과학적인 데이터 기반의 '셀렉트 경매' 체계를 완성했다는 평가를 받는다.

이번 '한국형 셀렉트 경매'는 기존 세미 셀렉트 경매와 달리, 심사 상위 20% 우수마의 평가 결과를 사전 공개해 구매자의 정보 접근성을 높였다. 신규 마주들의 진입장벽도 낮췄다.

이번 제주 1세마 경매에는 총 144두가 상장돼 51두가 낙찰됐다. 셀렉트 심사에서 우수마로 선정된 28두 중 21두가 낙찰됐다.

최고 낙찰가를 기록한 상장번호 104번 수말('Idol'×'캔디진저')은 1억3000만원에 거래됐다.

김대헌 마사회 말산업처장은 "한국형 셀렉트 경매 도입은 국산 경주마의 생산 및 유통시장 활성화를 위한 의미 있는 첫걸음"이라며 "앞으로도 건전하고 투명한 경매시장 정착을 위한 노력과 더불어 경주마 경매체계의 고도화를 통해 생산자와 구매자 모두가 만족할 수 있는 선순환 구조를 만들겠다"고 밝혔다.

Kim Dae-heon, Director of the Horse Industry Division at the Korea Racing Authority, stated, "The introduction of the Korean Select Auction is a meaningful first step toward revitalizing the production and distribution market for domestic racehorses," adding, "We will continue our efforts to establish a sound and transparent auction market and create a virtuous cycle structure that satisfies both producers and buyers through the advancement of the racehorse auction system."
