형집행 정지 기간이 끝났지만 교도소로 복귀하지 않은 40대 남성이 인천에서 미성년자와 성매매를 하다가 경찰에 붙잡혔다.

인천 남동경찰서는 A씨를 아동·청소년의 성보호에 관한 법률 위반 혐의로 체포해 수사하고 있다고 7일 밝혔다.

A씨는 지난달 19일께 인천의 한 모텔에서 10대 미성년자 2명을 상대로 성매매를 한 혐의를 받는다.

경찰은 당시 신고를 받고 현장에 출동해 A씨를 현행범으로 체포했다.

◆ 2021년 형집행 정지 후 도주한 수배자

A씨는 조사 과정에서 2021년 말 형집행 정지로 잠시 풀려났지만 복귀하지 않고 도주한 수배자로 확인됐다.

형집행 정지는 형사소송법에 따라 형을 선고받은 자가 특정 사유가 있을 때 형 집행을 정지하는 제도다.

경찰 관계자는 "조만간 수사를 마무리하고 A씨를 검찰에 송치할 예정"이라고 밝혔다.
