인천 서구 반려동물 장례문화 지원을 위한 업무협약 체결
전국 최초 반려동물 장례문화 지원 조례 기반 협약
인천 서구는 14일 관내 동물장묘업체와 함께 '반려동물 소중한 이별, 따뜻한 동행'을 주제로 반려동물 장례문화 지원 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 서구의회 의원연구단체인 서구반려동물정책연구회가 공동발의해 전국 최초로 제정한 '인천광역시 서구 반려동물 장례문화 지원 조례'를 근거로 진행됐다.
화장비·봉안비 감면 혜택
협약에 따라 서구민은 협약을 맺은 동물장묘업체 2곳에서 화장비용 20%, 봉안비용 10% 감면 혜택을 받게 된다.
협약 기관으로는 ㈜더포에버와 ㈜어게인이 참여했고, 서구는 구민들이 혜택을 보다 쉽게 누릴 수 있도록 관련 홍보에 나설 계획이다.
서구반려동물정책연구회 의원들 참석
업무협약식에는 서구반려동물정책연구회 홍순서 대표의원과 박용갑, 백슬기, 유은희 의원 등 연구회 소속 의원이 함께했다.
의원들은 조례 제정과 협약의 의미를 되새기며 향후 정책 확대에 공감했다.

홍순서 대표의원은 "가족과도 같은 반려동물의 존엄한 이별을 위해 사회적 인식과 제도적 지원이 필요했다"며 "이번 조례와 협약은 경제적 부담을 덜고 생명권에 기반한 반려동물 장례문화 발전에 길을 여는 중요한 첫걸음"이라고 밝혔다.
홍 의원은 "앞으로도 구민이 체감할 수 있도록 실질적인 정책 마련에 최선을 다할 것"이라고 덧붙였다.

Cremation and ossuary cost reduction benefits
According to the agreement, Seo-gu residents will receive a 20% discount on cremation costs and a 10% discount on ossuary costs at two animal funeral companies that signed the agreement.
The Forever Co., Ltd. and Again Co., Ltd. participated as agreement institutions, and Seo-gu plans to promote related information so that residents can more easily enjoy the benefits.
Seo-gu Companion Animal Policy Research Group council members attend
The business agreement ceremony was attended by Hong Soon-seo, representative council member of the Seo-gu Companion Animal Policy Research Group, and council members Park Yong-gap, Baek Seul-gi, and Yoo Eun-hee.
The council members reflected on the significance of the ordinance enactment and agreement and sympathized with the expansion of policies in the future.

Representative Council Member Hong Soon-seo said, "Social awareness and institutional support were needed for the dignified farewell of companion animals, who are like family," and added, "This ordinance and agreement are an important first step in reducing the economic burden and opening the way for the development of a companion animal funeral culture based on the right to life."
Council Member Hong added, "We will continue to do our best to prepare practical policies that residents can feel."
