쿠팡에서 약 3,370만 개 계정의 개인정보가 유출돼 경찰이 본격 수사에 나섰다. 유재성 경찰청장 직무대행은 30일 "철저한 수사를 통해 진상을 규명하고 피의자를 신속히 검거하겠다"고 밝혔다.

경찰청에 따르면 서울경찰청 사이버수사대는 지난 21일 해당 사건에 내사를 착수했다. 25일 쿠팡 측으로부터 고소장을 접수받아 수사로 전환했다. 고소장에는 피고소인을 '성명불상자'로 적시했다. 사이버수사대는 정보통신망법상 침입 여부를 중심으로 수사를 진행 중이다.

쿠팡에 근무했던 중국 국적자가 고객 정보를 유출한 것으로 알려졌다. 서울경찰청 관계자는 "현재 유출 경위를 확인하고 있다"고 말했다.

쿠팡은 지난 18일 약 4,500개 계정 정보가 무단 노출된 사실을 처음 파악했다. 조사 과정에서 약 3,370만 개 계정의 이름과 이메일 주소, 배송지 주소록 등이 노출된 것으로 확인됐다. 쿠팡은 카드 정보 등 결제 정보와 비밀번호는 유출되지 않았다는 입장이다.

유 직무대행은 "다수 국민이 피해를 입은 사안인 만큼 관계 부처와 협력해 국민 피해를 최소화하겠다"고 말했다.

A Chinese national who previously worked at Coupang is reportedly responsible for leaking customer information. A Seoul Metropolitan Police official said, "We are currently confirming the circumstances of the leak."

Coupang first discovered on November 18 that approximately 4,500 accounts had been exposed without authorization. Further investigation revealed that names, email addresses, and delivery addresses of approximately 33.7 million accounts were exposed. Coupang maintains that card information, payment details, and passwords were not leaked.

Acting Commissioner Yoo stated, "As many citizens have been affected, we will cooperate with related agencies to minimize damage to the public."
