서울시 서초구가 2일 서초역 사거리에서 '향나무 상징 공간' 개장식을 개최했다.
구는 이날 대법원에서 서초역 향나무 '천년향' 후계목 식수식을 진행했다. 서초구와 대법원은 후계목 관리 업무협약을 체결했다. 협약에 따라 서초구는 소유권을, 대법원은 관리 책임을 맡는다.
전성수 구청장과 천대엽 법원행정처장이 후계목을 식재했다.
이어 서초역 사거리 '향나무 상징 공간' 개장식이 열렸다. 전성수 구청장, 송상현 전 국제형사재판소(ICC) 소장, 천대엽 법원행정처장, 조순열 서울지방변호사회장 등이 참석했다.
전성수 구청장은 "향나무 상징 공간은 정의와 공정 가치를 지키고 서초의 새로운 천년을 열어가겠다는 다짐을 담은 공간"이라며 "서초 법조타운이 세계적인 사법 정의의 중심지로 도약하도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

Seocho-gu Opens 'Juniper Tree Symbol Space' at Seocho Station
Seoul=Reporter Choi Jong-ryong Seocho-gu held an opening ceremony for 'Juniper Tree Symbol Space' at Seocho Station intersection on the 2nd.
The district held a planting ceremony for the successor tree of 'Millennium Juniper' at the Supreme Court. Seocho-gu and the Supreme Court signed a management agreement for the successor tree. Under the agreement, Seocho-gu owns the tree and the Supreme Court manages it.
District Chief Jeon Seong-soo and Court Administration Director Cheon Dae-yeop planted the successor tree together.
The opening ceremony for 'Juniper Tree Symbol Space' at Seocho Station intersection followed. Attendees included District Chief Jeon Seong-soo, former International Criminal Court (ICC) President Song Sang-hyun, Court Administration Director Cheon Dae-yeop, and Seoul Bar Association President Cho Soon-yeol.
District Chief Jeon said, "The Juniper Tree Symbol Space embodies our commitment to protect justice and fairness and open a new millennium for Seocho," adding "We will do our best to make Seocho Legal Town a global center of judicial justice."
