시흥시, 25일부터 시내·마을버스 요금 인상…일반 시내버스 1650원
시흥시(시장 임병택)는 10월 25일 첫차부터 경기도 시내버스 및 시흥시 마을버스 요금을 조정한다고 13일 밝혔다.
이번 요금 조정은 지난 6년간 유지돼 온 요금 체계를 현실에 맞게 조정해 버스 운행의 안정성과 서비스 품질을 지키기 위한 불가피한 결정이다.
최근 수년간 최저임금 인상, 주 52시간 근무제 도입, 운영비 상승 등으로 버스 운수업체의 경영 여건이 악화하면서 일부 노선의 운행이 위태로운 상황에 놓였다. 이에 시는 시민의 일상을 지키는 대중교통 서비스가 중단되지 않도록 요금 조정을 추진했다.
조정된 요금은 교통카드 기준으로, 경기도 시내버스 일반형의 경우 성인 1천450원에서 1천650원(200원 인상), 청소년 1천10원에서 1천160원(150원 인상), 어린이 730원에서 830원(100원 인상)으로 오르게 된다. 시흥시 마을버스 요금은 성인 1천350원에서 1천650원(300원 인상), 청소년 950원에서 1천160원(210원 인상), 어린이 680원에서 830원(150원 인상)으로 조정된다.
시는 이번 요금 조정을 통해 확보된 재원을 경기도 공공관리제 확대, 배차 간격 단축, 노선 신설, 노후 차량 교체 등 서비스 개선에 우선 투자할 계획이다. 시내버스와 마을버스 적자 노선에 대한 보조금 절감 효과도 기대하고 있다.
현재 시는 요금 인상에 따른 시민 부담을 덜기 위해 다양한 교통비 지원 정책을 병행 추진 중이다. K-패스(대중교통 이용 시 교통비 일부 환급), The 경기패스(경기도민 대상 추가 혜택 제공), 시흥패스 플러스(어린이ㆍ청소년 교통비 지원 통합제도)가 시행 중이다. 2026년 1월부터는 만 65세 이상 어르신을 대상으로 한 '어르신 기본교통비 지원사업'도 본격적으로 시행된다.
임병택 시흥시장은 "이번 요금 조정은 시민의 이동권을 안정적으로 보장하기 위한 불가피한 조치"라며 "앞으로도 시민 중심의 안전하고 편리한 대중교통 환경을 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.
