9일 새벽 인천 미추홀구 신기시장에서 화재가 발생해 점포 10곳이 피해를 입었다.

인천소방본부에 따르면 이날 오전 3시 27분께 "시장 할인마트에서 연기와 냄새가 난다"는 119 신고가 접수됐다. 소방당국은 인력 162명과 펌프카 등 장비 47대를 투입해 오전 6시 22분께 불을 완전히 껐다.

이 화재로 인명피해는 발생하지 않았다. 다만 점포 6곳이 반소되고 4곳이 부분 소실됐다.

소방당국은 신고 접수 41분 만인 오전 4시 8분께 관할 소방 인력을 모두 동원하는 대응 1단계를 발령했다.

소방당국 관계자는 "신기시장 내 점포 2층에서 불이 시작된 것으로 추정된다"며 "정확한 화재 원인과 재산피해 규모를 조사 중"이라고 밝혔다.

Fire at Incheon's Singi Market Damages 10 Shops

INCHEON — A fire broke out at Singi Market in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, early on Dec. 9, damaging 10 shops before being extinguished approximately three hours later.

According to the Incheon Fire Department, a 119 emergency call was received at 3:27 a.m. reporting smoke and fumes from a discount mart in the market. Firefighters deployed 162 personnel and 47 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, and fully extinguished the blaze by 6:22 a.m.

No casualties were reported. However, six shops were half-destroyed while four others sustained partial damage.

The fire department declared Response Level 1, mobilizing all firefighting personnel in the jurisdiction, at 4:08 a.m. — 41 minutes after the initial report.

A fire department official stated, "The fire is believed to have originated on the second floor of a shop within the market," adding that investigators are examining the exact cause and assessing property damage.
