◆ 수원시가 8일 일월수목원 물빛누리홀에서 '수원 R&D사이언스 파크 조성사업' 시민보고회를 개최했다. 이재준 수원특례시장이 참석해 사업 추진 상황을 설명했다. 이재식 수원시의회 의장, 백혜련 의원(수원시을), 성균관대 관계자 등이 함께했다.

◆ 수원 R&D사이언스 파크 조성 부지가 내년 1월 도시개발구역으로 지정된다. 권선구 입북동 484번지 일원, 35만 2600㎡ 규모다. 첨단과학연구단지 조성이 목표다.

◆ 이재준 시장은 "R&D사이언스 파크가 풍부한 인재풀, 격자형 교통망, 우수한 정주환경, 높은 기업 입주 수요라는 4가지 성공 요인을 갖추고 있다"고 설명했다.

◆ R&D, AI, 반도체, IT, 바이오 등 첨단연구기업 유치를 진행한다. 연구개발 시설과 산학협력센터 조성, 연구원 종사자용 공동주택, 공원 녹지 조성이 포함된다.

◆ 성균관대 자연과학캠퍼스가 인접해 있다. 탑동 이노베이션밸리도 주변에 위치한다. 산학연 연계가 활발히 이뤄질 것으로 예상된다.

◆ 국철 1호선 성균관대역, 신분당선 구운역 인근이다. 평택파주고속도로 당수 나들목, 금곡 나들목과 차로 5분 거리다. 접근성이 우수하다.

◆ 수원시는 R&D사이언스 파크와 탑동 이노베이션밸리 중심으로 100만 평(3.3㎢) 규모의 '수원경제자유구역' 지정을 추진한다. 한국형 실리콘밸리 조성 계획이다.

◆ 이재준 시장은 "R&D사이언스 파크 완성 시 기업 유입, 일자리 증가로 지역 전반 성장 견인할 것"이라며 "단순한 개발사업이 아니라 수원의 미래로 이동하는 출발선"이라고 했다.

◆ Mayor Lee stated, "The R&D Science Park has four success factors for an advanced scientific research city: abundant talent pool, grid-type transportation network, excellent residential environment, and high corporate relocation demand."

◆ The city will recruit advanced research companies in R&D, AI, semiconductors, IT, and biotechnology sectors. The project includes research and development facilities, industry-academic cooperation centers, residential apartments for researchers and employees, parks, and green spaces.

◆ Sungkyunkwan University's Natural Sciences Campus is located adjacent to the site. Tapdong Innovation Valley is positioned nearby. Active industry-academic-research collaboration is expected.

◆ The park is near Seoul Metro Line 1's Sungkyunkwan University Station and the Shinbundang Line's Guun Station. It is within a 5-minute drive from Dangsoo and Geumgok interchanges on the Pyeongtaek-Paju Expressway. Accessibility is excellent.

◆ Suwon City plans to designate a 'Suwon Economic Free Zone' covering approximately 1 million pyeong (3.3㎢), centered on the R&D Science Park and Tapdong Innovation Valley. This aligns with the plan to create a Korean version of Silicon Valley.

◆ Mayor Lee stated, "When the R&D Science Park is completed, corporate relocation and job creation will drive overall regional growth," and added, "This is not merely a development project but a starting line for Suwon's movement toward the future."
